Selena Quintanilla has finally landed on TikTok.

The social media platform announced that one of the most influential late singers, who impacted Tejano music, will continue to inspire people around the world under the account name of @selenalaleyenda on TikTok. Already, the account has over 100k followers and 260k likes.

The account for the Queen of Tex-Mex aims to engage with fans in a few ways. First, they hope users will be able to learn more about her career. Second, fans will be able to use her songs to create fun and original content that will honor her music and legacy. The audio will be supplemented by TikTok, who will be broadcasting excerpts from her last concert on September 23 on their platform.

Her family forms part of this new venture saying, “It’s exciting to officially have Selena on TikTok. I have been watching Selena’s fans celebrate her legacy here on TikTok and it’s about to get even better now with her official page,” says Suzette Quintanilla in a statement.

Selena is still very much in the pop culture zeitgeist on TikTok. The social media platform has pages with makeup looks inspired by Selena as well as music inspired by the late singer, memes, and compilation TikTok’s.

Selena made her mark on both the music and fashion scenes in the early ’90s. She toured in a music group with her family from an early age and gained popularity in the Tejano music world in her late teens and early 20’s before her tragic passing in 1995. Selena was one of the first Latine artists to start the crossover from Mexican to American audiences.
