It’s only been three days since Shakira and Gerard Piqué confirmed their separation in a joint statement, but fans are wondering how the pop star is doing, especially since rumors circulating point to the relationship ending because of Piqué infidelity.

The cheating rumors were first reported by El Periódico de Catalunya. Neither party has confirmed the reason for their breakup.

However, what has been confirmed is how Shakira is doing in the wake of the chaos that has overtaken her personal life. According to People en Español, the Spanish outlet Europa Press was recently able to get an answer to that question from Shakira’s sister, Lucy Mebarak.

“She’s on the mend,” Mebarak said when asked how Shakira was doing. When asked if the family expected this was going to be the way things ended, Mebarak said, “Probably.”

Mebarak also revealed that Shakira was not currently in Spain but did not share any more details on her whereabouts.

The same day Shakira and Piqué released their joint statement about their split, Shakira also went on social media to clear up rumors that an ambulance was sent to her home on May 28 to attend to an alleged mental health episode she was having after a verbal confrontation with Piqué. Those rumors turned out to be false. Instead, the ambulance was called because Shakira’s father was injured after a serious fall.

“My dad unfortunately had a bad fall, and I accompanied him in an ambulance to the hospital where he is recovering now,” she wrote. “Please do send all your best wishes his way and thank you all as always for all of your love and support.”

Shakira and Piqué share two sons, Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7.
