Art Chat and Book Signing with Salomon Grimberg — MOLAA

If you’re looking for a Frida Kahlo expert to answers all your questions about the legendary artist, Salomon Grimberg could definitely give you some answers. The psychiatrist and art historian recently wrote two books on Kahlo called “Frida Kahlo, Song of Herself” and “Frida Kahlo, the Still Lifes.” The author gives a really personal look at Kahlo in “Song of Herself” through interview between the artist and a psychologist and friend named Olga Campos. Head to the Museum of Latin American Art on Saturday, April 19 at 3 p.m. to hear him speak about his work. If you end up wanting a book, there will be some available that day for purchase. Tickets are $9 for non-members and free for members.

Vital Signs — Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art

In a collaboration we totally dig, Thomas McGovern and Juan Delgado offer an intimate look at San Bernardino. McGovern takes snapshots on the street while Delgado writes poems; these are paired together in a book called “Vital Signs.” You can see the work in an exhibition of the same name opening this week. Head to the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art Thursday, April 17 at 5 p.m. for the opening reception. The photographs and poems are a love letter, in a way, to San Bernardino put together creatively by Delago and McGovern. Not your average photobook. If you miss the opening, the exhibition will run until July 31.
