Focus on Art: Walter Goldfarb – MOLAA

Plenty of pieces belong to the Museum of Latin American Art’s collection and among those lie some works that could probably make you trip out a little. Brazilian artist Walter Goldfarb created a series back in 2006 based on the crazy effect of your cerebro. That way you can feel what it’s like just by staring at a painting. But if you’re wondering what goes on inside Goldfarb’s own mind you can find out this weekend. On Sunday, March 24th at 1 p.m. you can take advantage of a free, docent-led talk that can enlighten you more on the life and work of this intriguing artist. Meet in the lobby for a one-of-a-kind investigation into the background of this intriguing artista.

Power of the Equinox – Avenue 50 Studio

Ya llegó la primavera. Now that we’ve survived the time change, the upcoming Spring Equinox makes the arrival of Spring even more legit. Wednesday, March 20 welcome the springtime warmth with a celebration at Avenue 50 Studio. The locale will opens its door for a unique celebration featuring everything from spoken word performances to video screenings from artists Chusien Chang, Fracisco Letelier and Karl Jean-Guerly Petion, the artists featured in the current show “Power Points.” Stop by at 7 p.m. to check out presentations that take place until 8:30. The events goes until 10 p.m. so plenty of time to welcome the new season.

Andell Family Sundays – LACMA

If you’re looking for something to do with the family – okay, maybe you’re just stuck babysitting your tia’s kid for the day – the Los Angeles County Museum of Art has a Sunday funday that could even be a good time for you, too. The Andell Family Sundays program this week revolves around the theme Fruit and Flowers on Fabric. That means taking inspiration from LACMA pieces to make a unique textile piece. Once the little ones make their own clothing items, you can drag them along on a tour of LACMA’s textile collection conducted in both English and Spanish. Fun for the whole fam.
