State of The Art is Remezcla’s weekly guide to Latin art openings in your city each week. Mingle with art admirers, collectors and casual passersby to check out these new works. And don’t forget to grab a free glass of wine…or three.
____________________________Sometimes it’s the subject of a work of art that makes it interesting. If you sat in front of a black canvas what would you paint? The lamp near your bed? That one lamp post outside your house? The possibilities are endless but no matter what the object, it’s the artist’s interpretation that matter. This Thursday, June 20 Bleicher/Golightly will host a show dedicated to objects. “Objectified II” will showcase the talent of artists like Jose Lopes, Douglas Alvarez, Kio Griffith, Airom and more, making for a diverse group both culturally and artistically. The artists came to LA via places like Mexico City and Australia and offer their own artistic twists on objects. Head to the gallery at 7:30 for the opening reception.

The next CicLAvia event is here! So if you happen to be biking around with the fam bam or by yourself and decide you need a quick break, stop in at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. As part of Andell Family Sundays, the museum will offer a number of free programs to keep you entertained. Art educator Beatriz Jaramillo will be giving tours about LACMA’s architecture in both English and Spanish and artist Gustavo Garcia Vaca – who’s exhibited internationally and worked with artists like graffiti legend Chaz Bojorquez – will talk about how architects sketch. Create your own architectural vision and then go see Metropolis, Chris Burden’s mini-city with toy cars zooming in twisting lanes every which way. The event is gratis and goes from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
