State of the Art: Your Weekly Guide to NYC's Latino Art

Twitter: @labarbaraaa
State of The Art is Remezcla’s weekly guide to Latin art openings in your city each week. Mingle with art admirers, collectors and casual passersby to check out these new works. And don’t forget to grab a free glass of wine…or three.

Esther Ruiz, a fellow Houston, TX native, is having her first solo exhibition in New York at Wayfarers gallery in Bushwick. Ruiz is exhibiting a series of sculptures composed of concrete, poppy-colored plastics and neon lights. The fun nuggets of geometricities are reminiscent of miniature landscapes with competing textures and transparencies. The juxtaposition of highly distinct materials is beautiful in a very interesting way. The opening reception will be this Friday, October 11th from 7- 10 pm. You can view the exhibit until October 27th.
