This week it’s all about uptown Manhattan, Spanish Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood. If you don’t live in these hoods already, be adventurous and explore the art scene in another barrio. Museo del Barrio and Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance have several events popping up this week, so if you’re a Brooklynite, hop on a train. If you’re a Manhattanite get out of bed and enjoy the festivities!
Museum Mile @ Museo and the Block Party!
Tomorrow is the annual Museum Mile Festival where all 10 museos on 5th avenue open their doors to the public for free and host fun, interactive events. Thousands of people attend events at the Guggenheim, Museo del Barrio, Museum for African Art and many more. Museo del Barrio in particular hosts a block party from 6 to 9 pm where DJ Charo Velecio will be spinning and Batala NYC, an all-woman drumming band will perform. There will also be a mini-dance performance by Antonio Ramos and the Gang Bangers in Neverland — quite intriguing.
