After more than a 20-year wait, Nike is finally releasing their sneaker collaboration with Terror Squad, the hip-hop collective from the late ’90s and early ’00s that featured Latine rappers like Fat Joe, Cuban Link, and the late Big Pun. Of course, DJ Khaled was also part of the group.
Terror Squad x Nike Air Force 1 “Porpoise” will be available for purchase on August 19, 2023, at select retailers for $150.
According to GQ, Nike, and Terror Squad started working on nine different colorways – one for each member of the hip-hop group – after their 1999 self-titled album dropped. None of them were ever released to the public, however.
More than two decades later, the “Porpoise” has arrived and is definitely going to be something fans of the Terror Squad are going to want to get their hands on. Can you imagine listening to “Lean Back” and “Let Them Things Go” while wearing these things?
The “Porpoise” is a full leather sneaker that is mostly white and features a light blue Nike swoosh. The letters “TS” are embroidered on the lateral heel as a nod to the group, which will be celebrating its 25th anniversary next year.
Earlier this summer, sneakerheads got a quick peek of the shoes when Fat Joe joined former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning on The Eli Manning Show.
Now, with this official first look at the sneakers, we’re sure everyone who was impacted by the music of Terror Squad back in the day will be circling August 19 on their calendar, so they can buy a pair for their collection.
