The City Needs to Get Blasted

The City of Chicago did not appreciate Gabriel Villa’s new mural in Bridgeport depicting the ever-present street cameras.  Villa is one of Pilsen’s most respected artists and the director of the Yollocalli Arts Reach, yet the city erased his work without notice. They treated this commissioned piece of work like illegal street art and decided to wash and graffiti blast it off the walls this week, after months of work by Villa and his team of artists. The piece was commissioned for Version Fest ’09.
