We recently delved into the many ways Latin America loves themselves some Dragon Ball, and now we have further evidence: the theme song for Dragon Ball Super, which has only been around since early July of this year, has inspired Alvin Mendoza, singer for la Banda Memphis, to record a Quechua version of it.
Interactiva Medios helped with the task of translating. In the YouTube video, Mendoza simply says, “Uplifting the Inca language, a tribute to the Dragon Ball series.” His #HablemosQuechua tag is part of a growing movement to bring attention to the indigenous language.
Just this year, we’ve seen a teenager sing Michael Jackson’s The Way You Make Me Feel in Quechua and the Quechua translation of Cervantes’ most famous work, El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha.
