Gap is back at it again with another commercial that hits all the right notes— and this time it’s just in time for the holidays.
The latest ad features singer-songwriter, Sienna Spiro and a choir of multi-generational performers acapella singing “The Climb,” a 2009 hit single originally performed by Miley Cyrus.
The holiday ad titled “Give Your Gift” touches on the power of giving and music. The ad brought together 25 voices from across the country, between the ages of 8 to 72 that “represent a mix of music veterans and up-and-comers.” And apparently this was all recording live.
They choir includes: Zoë Erianna, Tate Butts, James Wimbley, Claire Crosby, PIAO, Becca Means, Touk, Deloyd Elze, Cailin Russo, Matisse, Gayathri Krishnan, Tiffany Monique, Peter Barber, Neverending Nina, Ella Jane, Tayler Green, Joyce Wrice, Leroy Hyson II, Jared Jenkins, Algie Powers, DR Tony Wilkins, Andria Rose, Michael Paik, Angélica Garcia, LEKAN.
Behind the creative campaign is Mexican-American director, Bethany Vargas. Vargas is also the creative mind behind the viral Gap campaign that featured KATSEYE singing and dancing along to Kellis’ “Milkshake.”
Born and raised in a small town in Washington, Vargas channeled her creativity through photography and video. Her creative talent has landed her opportunities with The Marias, Megan Thee Stallion, Kali Uchis, and even Lady Gaga.
When asked by The Cut about the success of her viral Gap ad with Katseye, she said. “The whole project was just so incredible to work on, but it has been super heartwarming to see all the reactions and the love and the support on that campaign, from the scale to the choreography to the dancers; everybody involved was just so hyped and great to work with. Seeing the authenticity that was put by everyone on that project to be translated by the community online makes me so happy.”
