On Friday, there was chaos on The View. Today, there was calm, and multiple apologies, as everyone was confirmed to be safe and healthy.
Vice President Kamala Harris was the guest on Friday when things went off the rails. As frequent co-host Ana Navarro and panelist Sunny Hostin were preparing for the interview, they were informed that they’d both tested positive for COVID-19 and asked to leave the set. However, on the show today, co-host Joy Behar informed the audience it had all been a false alarm.
“I am thrilled to report that Sunny and Ana’s Friday results turned out to be false positives, and everyone is safe, healthy and COVID-free,” Behar said. “No one’s got it. It was a mistake of some sort.”
Producer Brian Teta apologized to both for the situation.
“It was just an unbelievable set of circumstances, and we found out moments before we came back on the air,” he said. “And in that moment, all I could think of was that we had to keep the hosts safe, and we had to keep the vice president safe — she could not walk out no matter what.”
“And that led to some really awkward television that I’d like to have back if I could, but I really want to acknowledge and apologize to Sunny and Ana, because in the midst of all this chaos, they were put in this position where they had this information put out on television,” Teta added.
Both Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin, who are fully vaccinated, looked back on what happened on the show today.
Ana also had some choice words on the show for Donald Trump Jr, who’d previously commented on her diagnosis.
All four of the show’s panelists have been confirmed negative for the virus.
