It is now nearly five months after the Presidential election that ousted wannabe dictator Donald Trump out of office, and yet, CEO of Goya Foods Robert Unanue repeated the Big Lie in a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
Despite a promise to stop publicly speaking about politics on behalf of his company, Unanue took the CPAC stage falsely declaring that “the real, the legitimate, and still the actual president of the United States.” He further claimed that the national election, as well as the results of Georgia (who now have two Democratic senators after a narrow win in November), are “not legitimate.”
“We still have faith that the majority of the people in the United States voted for the president,” he claimed while giving his speech in Orlando to attendees of the conservative conference.
In January, calls to #BoycottGoya began after Unanue, in an interview with Fox News, stated that President Joe Biden’s November win was “unverified.” The exact opposite is true.
Not only has the November 2020 election been verified and certified, but over 60 lawsuits from the Trump Administration challenging the election results were either tossed out of court, or Trump lost. And for the most part, each lawsuit was denied because there was no evidence of widespread fraud.
A Goya board member and company owner, Andy Unanue, made a statement on television following the January incident stating that, “Bob does not speak for Goya Foods when he speaks on TV. The family has diverse views on politics, but politics is not part of our business. Our political point of views are irrelevant.”
However, Unanue was at CPAC as a CEO of Goya, so it is unknown if the company was aware beforehand.
Journalist Soledad O’Brien shared the treasonous speech, and said “Folks at Goya should be embarrassed by their CEO.”
