D’Marquesina‘s Glori Linares can now add shop owner to a resume that includes dance-floor packing DJ, and pop-up restaurateur. The puertorra behind one of our favorite parties has teamed up with room mate turned business partner Victoria Delgado to open a new store on Williamsburg’s waterfront, debuting to the public tomorrow.

Tropical Shop will sell clothing, accessories, and interior decor items all inspired by the store’s eponymous focus: the colors, flavors, and aesthetics of the Tropics. Their inventory is a carefully curated both from far-flung places and local artists — limited edition backpacks created by BK-based Puerto Rican artist Hector Madera, for example, will co-exist alongside elaborately-patterned drop-crotch pants that Linares imported from Thailand.

Tropical prints have been huge this summer, showing up everywhere from Prada runways to high street retailers, so we predict Tropical Shop — which is fueled by authentic calorcito caribeño — will be a big hit.

Tropical Shop’s opening party is Saturday, August 9th at 5pm.
