The School Board has voted to fire Georgia Clark. Six days after the Carter-Riverside High School English teacher was placed on leave for tweets that targeted undocumented students, the Fort Worth Independent School District unanimously voted to fire her.
Clark, who thought she was anonymously sending these messages to President Donald Trump, has a chance to appeal the vote with the state, but it’s clear that there’s a lot of people who will speak out if she is able to remain in the school district, which has a 63 percent Latino student population.
On May 17, she tweeted at Trump, “Mr. President, Fort Worth Independent School District is loaded with illegal students from Mexico. Anything you can do to remove the illegals from Fort Worth would be greatly appreciated.” But there were other instances where she made inappropriate comments to students of color. One time, she reportedly asked a student for papers to prove they were “legal.”
