Meet Korn’s New Bassist, the 12-Year-Old Son of Metallica’s Robert Trujillo

Even in the world of celebrity spawns, Tye Trujillo is living a pretty charmed life. The 12-year-old – who is of Mexican and Native American ancestry – is an accomplished bassist, like his father Robert Trujillo, a member of Metallica. While Tye normally plays with The Helmets, this month he’ll tour South America as Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu’s substitute.

As Korn wrote on Facebook, Fieldy can’t join the rest of the band during the south American leg of its tour. “We are bummed Fieldy can’t join us on this run but excited to do a few gigs with a young player like Tye,” the band wrote. Tye will join Korn in Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Peru beginning on April 17.
