This year’s Halloween Horror Nights for both Hollywood and Orlando have brought the terrors of Latin America back with the company’s beloved franchise house, Monstruos. While Orlando is getting a house similar to the one from 2023, Hollywood is raising the bar with Monstruos 2: The Nightmares of Latin America.

Since the ‘90s, Halloween Horror Nights has terrorized guests with houses that were either inspired by movies like The Exorcist or offered up completely original houses based on past stories like La Llorona. With Monstruoos returning, it also continues a classic trend of the event: sequel houses.

Where the first house focused on monsters of Latin American lore like El Sibón, this year’s house will have three new additions. The first El Charro, a soul-stealing horseman; the second, El Cadejo, is a black dog with red eyes that eats its victims. However, the final monster, El Cucuy, is best known as the boogeyman and has a history at Halloween Horror Nights.

Being a sequel house and featuring El Cucuy, Monstruos 2 is unique in that it will give guests a chance to see a new take on both concepts. For now, though, it’s unclear if the facade of the Guadalajara and Guanajuato graveyard will return, but it serves as a great segue to a new scary adventure.

Universal Studios Hollywood has had a rich history of bringing the scariest stories of Latin America to life, and Monstruos 2: The Nightmares of Latin America will no doubt continue that trend. But with a classic like El Cucuy ushering in lesser-known stories, this could easily be yet another fan-favorite addition to the event.

Visitors can expect Monstruos 2: The Nightmares of Latin America to debut with the event on September 5th and end on November 3rd. This offers more than enough time to see the now-iconic haunted house resurrect for another year of horrors.
