From one stage to a very different one. Ignacia Fernández is the new Miss World Chile 2025, and she’s taking the world by storm not just because of her beauty, but also because of her talent. Fernández, who gave a viral performance at the Miss Mundo Chile semifinals, has now walked away with the crown.

The singer—and now beauty queen—is the vocalist and founder of the Chilean progressive death metal band DECESSUS. A few days ago, during the Miss World Chile semifinals, Fernández performed an original song by her band and gained worldwide attention, sparking a conversation about stereotypes in beauty pageants. The band, which was formed in 2020, released a single in September titled “Dark Flames.”

“Couldn’t be more [happy] and grateful,” Fernández wrote on social media.. “I take on this beautiful challenge with all the energy and heart put into representing my country in the best way. I promise to give it my all, with passion, labor and purpose.” She also spoke about the performance people are still talking about. “Thank you for the worldwide recognition of my singing, a little piece of my soul that inspires me to keep growing and dreaming big. Let’s go all the way Chile…. for that crown!”

After her performance in the semifinals, Fernández took to social media to explain the influence of metal in her life. “Metal has been a fundamental part of who I am as a person and in my life: a refuge, a source of strength and purpose,” adding, “Being able to express it on stage at Chilevision and Miss Mundo Chile was an opportunity I deeply value.”
