In 2017, Walter Mercado held an estate sale in Miami, and we were pretty bummed out that we didn’t have the opportunity to fly in and see all of our favorite astrologers’ personal items. For anyone else who similarly missed out on that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, you now have a new chance to get up close and personal with Mercado’s stuff. This August, HistoryMiami Museum will have a Walter Mercado exhibition on view.

Aptly titled Mucho, Mucho Amor: 50 Years of Walter Mercado, the exhibition will follow his life in Puerto Rico, his career as our spiritual advisor, and more. The museum will showcase twelve of his capes (!!!), his jewelry, and much more.

“We are excited to share the story of Walter Mercado here at HistoryMiami. So many of us grew up with the Puerto Rican icon in our living rooms as we listened to his predictions on television, and now his legacy will be shared on the walls of our museum for everyone to experience,” said Jorge Zamanillo, executive director of HistoryMiami Museum, in a press release.

Though nowadays, he considers himself (probably?) a New Yorker, he will return to Miami on August 3 for a special event at the museum.

“After my homeland of Puerto Rico, Miami has been the most important city in my life and career. Miami has been a second home where I have lived and worked for many decades and a crucial place in the trajectory of sharing my message with global audiences,” Walter said in a statement. “This moment is a great homecoming. I’m excited to share it with you all and I hope you’ll leave the museum feeling mucha paz y amor.”

Mucho, Mucho Amor: 50 Years of Walter Mercado is on view from August 2 to 25. Purchase tickets here.
