Selena’s death was a tragic moment in Latine history and the community will never forget. Younger generations are now falling in love with La Reina de Tejano music and, at the same time, are learning about her death and who caused it. One young girl in Houston, named Emily, took matters into her own hands, as best as she could, with a piñata at her birthday party.

The 9-year-old Houstonian did not hold back when she started to beat the piñata with a stick. She even turned to ask her mom for permission if she could cuss about what she was going to do with the Yolanda Saldívar piñata.

“Can I say it,” she asked her mom off camera before launching into an expletive filled explanation of what was in store for the paper Saldívar.

People had some recommendations of things to do to the piñata as well, but mom already had that covered. Emily can be seen in a second video just throwing hands at the piñata. The partygoers were hyping her up as she attacked the piñata mercilessly.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the first idea for the piñata was a white rose in honor of Selena’s favorite flower. However, when Edith Gomez, Emily’s mother, told her the plan, Emily concocted her revenge on Saldívar.

“I go ‘okay, well it’s going to be hard to find it but we can do it,’” Edith told Emily.

Fortunately for Emily, they were able to locate a custom piñata maker who seemed to be all too happy to make the special piñata for the birthday celebration.
