In a heartwarming video posted to social media on Sunday (May 22), Karol G is seen singing to young cancer patients at the Fundación Hospital de La Misericordia. The pediatric hospital is in Bogotá, Colombia.
Sporting her signature aqua blue hair and wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and white sneakers, the Latin Grammy Award winner walked around and sang inside a large room filled with kids – many of them with IV poles and bags beside them. Karol G was accompanied by a guitar player and a percussionist.
“If with my presence I can make someone happy, I will also be very happy,” Karol G said. “These things do a lot of good for us and also for them. That’s why it’s important to give them back a little of the love they give us every day.”
During part of the video, Karol G gave a little girl named Barbarita the spotlight by holding the microphone toward her to sing her little heart out. Barbarita didn’t disappoint and sang at the top of her lungs as Karol G danced with her.
Karol G fans were touched by the video – many of them calling it a “gesture of love” and referring to Karol G as someone “from another planet” for the positivity she brought to the kids.
“How nice to see an artist bring joy to people who need it,” said Instagram user Diana Garcia. “She has a good heart, and her humility makes her great.”
Karol G is no stranger to spending time with those in need. Earlier this year, she made a stop at El Buen Pastor women’s prison in Bogotá to visit with the prisoners and perform some of her hit songs.
