In a video for Vogue magazine, Natalia Bryant, the eldest daughter of Vanessa Bryant and late NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, talked about how she balances school and her career as a model. She also showed everyone a necklace she wears, which has a special meaning connected to her father.
The video was for Vogue‘s series Beauty Secrets, which takes viewers through the beauty routines of celebrities and well-known people. The series is something the 19-year-old college student said she has been watching since she was in the eighth grade.
“I literally remember getting ready for high school homecoming and stuff and watching Vogue Beauty Secret’s videos,” she said.
Later in the video, Bryant shows the camera one of the necklaces she’s wearing. The jewelry features the word “slim” in lowercase, cursive letters, outlined in diamonds, and set on a gold chain. Bryant explained that “Slim” was the nickname her father used to call her when she was a little girl.
“All my jerseys said Slim,” Bryant said. “I didn’t grow into the jersey until I was older, so my dad would always call me Slim.”
As a student at the University of Southern California, Bryant spoke about the challenges she’s facing working as a model and going to school. She described her life as one that is like a character from a late 2000s Disney Channel sitcom.
“I’m really figuring out how to balance modeling with college,” she said. “It’s been quite the experience. I kind of feel like Hannah Montana. I’ll go to this really cool shoot and then by night I go back to college. I go to class. I’m in the middle of midterms.”
