William Levy (Café con aroma de mujer) put his money where his mouth is recently at the Starlite Gala in the name of charity. Or should we say someone paid him to put his mouth where their money paid for?
During a recent appearance at the Starlite Gala, a star-studded benefit in Spain, Levy offered up three kisses to the right bidders. Levy raised 28,000€ ($28,468.86 USD) from the three kisses, which breaks down to 6,000€, 10,000€, and 12,000€, respectively.
This isn’t the first time a heartthrob celebrity has auctioned off a kiss for a good cause. In 2016, one lucky fan paid $90,000 to kiss Ricky Martin for charity. Martin’s kiss raised money for AIDS research as part of the amfAR Inspiration Gala in São Paulo, Brazil.
According to El Periodico, Levy was honored at the event for his social commitment to history.
“I was very hungry and had many problems in Cuba, but I did not let myself fall and I thank you for that, because it has made me the person I am,” Levy told the attendees, according to El Periodico. “When I help, I don’t do it thinking of receiving anything in return, I do it from the heart.”
The Starlite Gala is an annual fundraiser started by Sandra Garcia-Sanjuan with support from Antonio Banderas, Maria Bravo, and Eva Longoria. The gala has met annually in Marbella, Spain, on the first Saturday in August since 2010 and raises money for charities close to those who founded and maintain it.
