Willy Chavarria x Kendrick Lamar New Collaboration to Help LA Wildfire Relief

Willy Chavarria has been at the forefront of fashion news following glowing reviews of his debut show in Paris, and highly revered collabs in the last few weeks alone. The celebration isn’t stopping for Chavarria, who recently announced the drop of his latest capsule collection, this time for another collab with renowned rapper Kendrick Lamar– just in time for his upcoming performance at the Super Bowl Halftime show.
The capsule collection features cool jock staples, including a satin, balloon-sleeved bomber jacket with an NFL patch and an embroidered KLamar signature, along with nylon athletic shorts, a relaxed, “beefy fit” hoodie, and a t-shirt, all specially designed by Willy Chavarria and Kendrick Lamar’s creative agency pgLang.
The hoodie and the t-shirt are more than just your average Super Bowl LIX memorabilia score– they also feature the lyrics “Foot Up On The Gas But Somebody Gotta Do It” off of Lamar’s “tv off” song– carefully place beside the graphic work of Felipe Merida, a longtime collaborator of Chavarria.
For Chavarria, this second-time collab was an opportunity to continue reaching a familiar audience and reconnect with a figure who also shares an ongoing commitment to community– especially California residents. All proceeds from the sale of the capsule collection will be going towards individuals who were affected by the fires in Los Angeles.
Chavarria says “I partnered with Kendrick Lamar’s pgLang and the NFL because of the opportunity to reach an audience that feels familiar to me – geared up with the Super Bowl on, making it an annual holiday. Kendrick performing is so monumental given his voice on the empowerment of Brown and Black people and I love his pure LA heart. This project was an intimate collaboration with the pgLang team. We spent a lot of time on the fits and the vibe, and Kendrick tied in everything to get it spot on. Working with Kendrick is an important cultural moment for the two of us. We both have an unwavering voice when it comes to our people.”
Chavarria and Lamar first worked together in 2023 for a custom look at Primavera Sound 23 in Barcelona, Spain.
