Brazilian tattoo artist Joice M. Figueiró was 39 weeks pregnant when she attended a Metallica concert on Saturday (May 7) inside the Couto Pereira Stadium in Curitiba, Brazil. While at the concert, Figueiró went into labor – as the song “Enter Sandman” played in the background.

“When would I ever imagine that I would be [at a Metallica] show weeks pregnant and this boy decides to be born right there 3 songs before the show ends, at Couto Pereira to the sound of Enter Sandman?” Figueiró wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her newborn. “In every show I go to, something has to happen, but this time I think I’ve outdone myself.”

Luan Figueiró was born at 11:15 p.m. His mother wasn’t alone during the experience. Along with the thousands of concertgoers around her, her husband, Jaime Figuieró, was there for support. He was able to find the medical staff to attend to his wife. Although they planned on taking her to the hospital, the baby didn’t want to wait.

Baby Luan was born weighing 6.7 pounds. His mother joked that she might name him James Ulrich after Metallica guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich.

The Figuierós had purchased tickets to the concert back in April 2020, but because of the pandemic, the original concert was postponed twice. It seems like Baby Luan had it planned all along. And what a soundtrack to have playing as you are welcomed into the world.

“Say your prayers, little one, don’t forget, my son, to include everyone…” That’s going to be one headbanging baby.
