Micah Palace, the Latino rapper with Argentinean roots, is one of America’s Got Talent fan-favorites. The last person who praised him? AGT’s judge Simon Cowell, who gave Palace his second Golden Buzzer last night (Sept. 2). Earlier today (Sept. 3), Remezcla spoke with the young artist about his plans for the Finalist Acts show and representing U.S. Latines.
In the popular competition show, each judge gets to give out two Golden Buzzers for two acts they think deserve going straight to the live shows, skipping the usual voting process. In Palace’s case, the Golden Buzzer sent him to the finals, which will air on Sept. 23. The following day (Sept. 24), America’s Got Talent will announce the winner, who will take home $1 million.
Cowell gave Palace his second buzzer after seeing the Argentinean-American rapper’s energetic performance of his original bilingual trap-infused country song “Rodeo.” The catchy song features fútbol’s signature “olé, olé, olé” chant, which the audience echoed back as they waved Argentinean and U.S. flags.
In a conversation with Palace, Remezcla asked the 24-year-old about how he felt after being given the Golden Buzzer. He described the experience as “an answered prayer” and an “insane feeling.” When asked what he has planned for finals, he said: “We’re looking to do possibly an unreleased song. I don’t know yet, but it’ll be another original or maybe two. We’ll see.”

He continued: “And again, for me, every performance is just all I need to do is make sure that people are entertained. And not just that, that people walk away feeling something like that they were moved, whether it was excitement, whether it was to think on something, or whether it was just to enjoy the performance. That’s the goal that I have for this next round as well, regardless if I win the whole thing or not.”
But AGT is also more than just performing for him. Palace also knows that he’s representing both his Latine and U.S. communities. “I was nervous that, well, if I’m reaching one community, maybe one or the other side won’t like me. Maybe the Americans won’t, or maybe the Latinos won’t — [but] it’s been the complete opposite,” he shared. “The Latinos are like, ‘You’re representing us well. We love you. Keep going.’ And the gringos are like, ‘Yo, you’re representing us well. Keep going.’ So it’s been insane to see that reaction.”
While Palace will continue his America’s Got Talent journey on Sept. 23 during the Finalist Acts show via NBC, he’s enjoying the process so far. “No matter what happens, this journey has been so great. Obviously, Lord willing, we keep going farther and keep putting on for the people… As long as people have been impacted by this so far, then I’ve won. We’ve won,” he added.
