Listen To Lido Pimienta’s Playlist for All the Mamis in the Place With Style & Grace

In the age of isolation, learning to seek love in unconventional places has become an imperative tool for keeping hope alive. A rapidly-changing quarantined world has challenged us to step out of predefined boxes of normalcy to find bolstering self-love in unexplored territories; and who better to help us celebrate the divine, empowered self than Miss Colombia herself?

Experimental in audio-visual mediums, Lido Pimienta, who will be performing at this year’s Grammys pre-show is an innovator in creating intentional spaces that explore prismatic worlds. Recently, the Afro-Indigenous queer artist shared that her music is “really about what I think. It amplifies, elevates, solidifies and verifies everything that I am.” From her role as an artist to the one as a young single mother, Lido knows a thing or two about handling a dynamic world with authenticity while creating beautiful things in the process. We asked Pimienta to create a special love playlist for all the fellow mamis with style and grace and she delivered.

The playlist starts with Kaina and Sen Morimoto’s mellow, romantic “Could Be A Curse” before taking a sharp turn into electronica dance rhythms in Pelada’s “Atejero.” It then ramps up a bit with the reggaeton flow of Chocolate Remix’s “Te Dije Que No” and indulges in feminist power vibes with Y La Bamba’s percussion-based anthem “Mujeres.” The playlist also takes us on a trip around the world with Tinawiren’s “Anina” and “Zukari” by Zuchu, while offering moments of introspection with Caroline Polachek’s “The Gate” and an array of classical tracks ranging from Vangelis to Hildegard von Bingen.

Just like Pimienta’s discography, this playlist is a celebration of multiple stories that come together to ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy. Press play on the playlist to turn up the self care and celebrate your inner goddess mamis.
