“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”

You can see this quote printed on one of the walls inside V1fro’s home, in the latest episode of Bedroom Producers, in partnership with vitaminwater. The music producer’s home is a place he never thought could serve as a sanctuary for his creativity until recently. There are, of course, challenges with working from home, but the Latine mixer and “bedroom producer” has learned to embrace his surroundings and allow his music to speak for itself.

He’s also learned that to do his best work, he must be sure that his mind, body and spirit are nourished, so he can make an impact in the industry he loves.

“I believed that you had to make music in the studio,” V1fro says. “I did not understand how technology allowed you to make it from home. It’s delicate to work from home. You have to enter a mental state…without anything distracting you. Sometimes it’s difficult.”

V1fro, however, is devoted to his craft and producing as much music in his home studio as he can. The sound he brings is an amalgamation of styles he has adopted from the different places he’s lived throughout his life – from Argentina to Puerto Rico to the Dominican Republic.

“Visiting the clubs [and] feeling the energy of the people has allowed me to develop a sound that I feel is quite epic,” he says.

Over the last four years, V1fro has been working on his album, Reggaeton Is Dead, which blends all the sounds he’s collected from various countries and shows audiences how those sounds have been influenced by the reggaeton genre. If he does his job right, his efforts will produce a track that will be fire on the dance floor.

“It’s like when the tide goes out…and the waves crash,” he explains. “It’s like that kind of energy.”

To get to that pinnacle of creativity, V1fro always finds a way to “detach [his] mind” and tap into the inspiration and motivation he needs to make new music. He does this sometimes by stepping away from his home studio to “have experiences [and] talk to people” – whether that means going to the beach or skateboarding at a park.

He also finds time to focus on himself and make sure he has everything he needs to nurture his creativity, so he can deliver what his fans expect of him – a distinctive style and sound.

V1fro would like to reach out to more of those people – and not just the ones in his backyard. He wants his music to spread across the world and impact those who hear it.
