In 2023, Remezcla launched Remezcla Pride: The Joy Edition. That edition of our Pride package was a celebration of our vibrant communities that focused on our joys and the light that our people bring to film, music, and more through interviews, editorials, and lists. Now in 2024, we’re back with another Pride package that focuses on another really important facet of who we are as LGBTQ+ people: our identities.

As LGBTQ+ people, our identities are an ever evolving and complex facet of who we are. A part of that identity has to do with our sexual orientation; our romantic, emotional, or sexual attraction to others. In our current day and age those sexual identities include lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, queer, and more. Another facet of our identities is gender. Some of us identify with the gender that we were born with while others land on a spectrum of gender identities. And others don’t align with the gender identity that is tied to their sex at birth. Wherever LGBTQ+ people land when it comes to identity, it’s always a form of liberation.

That’s why this Pride, Remezcla will honor the LGBTQ+ community by celebrating our identities with Remezcla Pride: Identity Edition.

Within the package, we will explore who we are as a community through interviews, lists, editorials, and more. We’ll have interviews with the multi-talented transgender entertainer and comedian Roz Hernandez, singer-songwriter Esteman, and the Artistic Director & CEO of Ballet Hispánico Eduardo Vilaro. In addition, we’ll also have posts about bisexual misconceptions within the Latine community, genderless makeup, and what it means to be LGBTQ+ as a means of demystifying why our identities are so important to us.

On the off chance you still have questions about Remezcla Pride: Identity Edition, I’ve provided some additional context below.

What makes this Pride package different from all the other ones out there?

Remezcla Pride: The Identity Edition is about Latine LGBTQ+ people written by Latine LGBTQ+ writers.

Is this just for Pride?

The Identity Edition is specifically for Pride 2024. But that doesn’t mean that coverage of LGBTQ+ issues will stop once the month ends. The LGBTQ+ community thrives 365 days a year and should be honored as such.

Can I send in recommendations for coverage?

Absolutely! As we roll out posts for this package, we’re looking for more opportunities to cover Latine LGBTQ+ talent, creatives, and announcements. Please contact the editor Lyra Hale here.
