Hollywood coupling and uncoupling is always a bit of a mystery. Just before a global pandemic took hold of the world, in early March 2020, it was reported that Ben Affleck (48) and Ana De Armas (32) were spotted vacationing together in De Armas’ native Cuba. The pair had met a few months prior when they began filming Deep Water in New Orleans, a film in which the former duo plays a married couple. By the end of March 2020, the couple was quarantining together, sharing many PDAs while walking De Armas’ dog in one of Los Angeles’ beach towns.
Now, less than three weeks into the new year, reports quickly arose that the quarantined couple has called it quits. Shortly after news broke, pictures surfaced of a masked person tossing a cardboard cutout of the Knives Out star in front of Affleck’s home.
While Ben is throwing de Armas’ photo in the garbage, Ana revealed a new hairdo in a YouTube livestream that honors her friend, Claudia Muma. In the video, she spoke with admiration and love for her friend, and thanks her for always being there for her.
Though the former pair has not divulged the reason for their parting, sources have said it was De Armas who broke it off (over the phone!) and was mainly due to Ana not wanting to live in Los Angeles. Ben, who shares three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, who are based in Los Angeles, opted to stay close to his children.
However, other sources have spoken to Page Six and noted that the split had more to do with De Armas’ wanting children, and Affleck, who’s youngest child is turning nine next month, did not. The source has also said that people close to the couple believe that they could get back together. “They are in love,” said the source. “People who know them believe it’s temporary.”
Only time will tell.
