The NVISION Latino Film & Music Festival is set to partner with Remezcla to present a panel during this year’s festival, which is set to take place on October 10-12 in Palm Springs, CA. The panel, titled “Becoming a Multi-Hyphenate,” will delve into the journey of transitioning between creative careers, highlighting both personal challenges and triumphs along the way.

The discussion is set to take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 11 at the Annenberg Theater at Palm Springs Art Museum. It will be moderated by Remezcla’s Editor-in-Chief, Thatiana Diaz, and will feature actress and activist Annie Gonzalez, alongside actor, singer, and NVISION Latino committee member Anthony Ramos.

The NVISION Latino Film and Music Festival will take place from October 10-12 at Palms Springs Art Museum. The line-up of movies and short films that will be screened during the festival includes four feature-length films and 35 short films.

Among the movies are the neo-noir Ponyboi, written by River Gallo and directed by Esteban Arango and En La Caliente: Tales of a Reggaeton Warrior by director Fabien Pisani. The short films include Hive, starring Xochitl Gomez, Shut up and Fish by Mexican-American music video directors Pasqual Gutiérrez and Raúl “RJ” Sanchez, and the Indigenous story of Tuhaymani’chi Pal Waniqa (The Water Flows Always) by Gina Milanovich Nils Cowan.

The “Becoming a Multi-Hyphenate” panel looks to provide crucial platforms for Latines in the industry to share their stories and inspire the next generation of talent, something that feels particularly important in an industry where Latinos hold less than 5% of leading on-screen and off-screen roles in Hollywood, including key creative positions like directors and showrunners (McKinsey & Company), despite Latinos making up 19% of the U.S. population and being responsible for 24% of box-office ticket sales and streaming subscriptions.
