Ariana DeBose is having the time of her life.

The actress starred in the Steven Spielberg remake of West Side Story and has been skyrocketing ever since. As reported previously by Remezcla, DeBose is sweeping this awards season and the Oscar buzz is real. Few people in this world get to experience the fame and success that she is living and it is definitely making her mom and family so proud.

The 94th Academy Awards are right around the corner airing on March 27. As the day draws closer, the hype around DeBose as Anita in West Side Story keeps growing. And that includes the hype that her mom and the rest of her family are feeling at her success.

In a recent interview with People Magazine, DeBose opened up about how her family is doing with her fame and success. “My mother got to visit, and she met Señor [Steven] Spielberg,” DeBose told People Magazine. “And watching Gina become speechless was amazing. Love you, Mom.”

She continues explaining that her whole family gets more and more impressed as her roles get bigger and bigger. According to her, everyone in her family is in awe of what she has been able to accomplish in Hollywood.

Even leading up to Saturday Night Live, DeBose’s mom did what all moms do: worry.

“I was like, ‘No, absolutely not, but we’re gonna do it anyways,’” Ariana DeBose recalls to People Magazine when her mother asked if she was ready for SNL.

Turns out, she was, even to clap back against the inevitable trolls that came crawling forward in her Instagram comments.
