Netflix has released the first teaser and images for Senna, the limited series based on the life of famed Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna. The series, which stars Gabriel Leone in the titular role, is set to have six episodes and will follow Senna’s “ journey through triumph, disappointment, joy, and sorrow, unveiling his personality and personal relationships.”

The show’s starting point is set to be the beginning of Senna’s career when he moved to England to compete in F1, and it’s set to follow from there to the accident that killed him in Imola, Italy, during the San Marino Grand Prix on May 1st of 1994.

In the teaser we see Senna preparing for a race, taping his hands, and putting on his helmet, with the show also giving us a glimpse at the kind of attention that was focused on him, as we can see a sea of cameras seemingly focus on the driver. Then Senna starts the race, and as he drives we see flashbacks to his childhood and his dreams of one day being the champion.

We also see glimpses of him with Xuxa (Pâmela Tomé) and getting into a fight with another driver, Alain Prost (Matt Mella) as well as a look at the iconic moment when Senna delivered his famous quote “I refuse to walk away from the fight,” which explains so much about what has made him the kind of figure that’s getting a limited series all these years later.

As Senna reaches the finish line, the iconic narration of Galvão Bueno can be heard, which means the race we see in the teaser is none other than Senna’s first win in his hometown of São Paulo in the 1991 Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos.

Senna is set to premiere in late 2024. The show also stars Alice Wegmann, Camila Márdila, Christian Malheiros, Gabriel Louchard, Hugo Bonemer, Julia Foti, Marco Ricca,  Susana Ribeiro, and Kaya Scodelario, among others.
