There have seen several casting announcements for Barry Jenkins’ follow up to Best Picture Oscar Winner Moonlight over the past few months. His adaption of James Baldwin’s novel If Beale Street Could Talk is set with a slew of stars like Stephan James, Colman Domingo, Brian Tyree Henry, Dave Franco, Ed Skrein, and Regina King. Two recent additions to the cast include Chilean Pedro Pascal (Narcos, Game of Thrones) and Emily Rios (The Bridge, Breaking Bad) as Victoria. But somehow, mainstream media outlets missed that Diego Luna also had a part in the movie until a photographer snapped images of the Mexican actor on set in New York City back in November.

According to BlackFilm.com, Diego will play a character named Pedrocito who works at a Spanish restaurant and is a friend of Fonny (the fiance of Tish, the movie’s protagonist).  He was spotted in uptown Manhattan while filming scenes with director Barry Jenkins and the cast.

Kiki Layne stars as Tish, a newly engaged woman who desperately needs to prove her fiance’s innocence while carrying their first child. The Harlem-set drama began production in October, but its release date is still unknown.
