It looks like rapper Cardi B is expanding her acting range. According to Variety, the Bronx native will star in the lead role of the upcoming comedy movie Assisted Living.

In the film, Cardi will play Amber, a small-time crook who gets involved in a failed heist. To outsmart the cops and criminals who are on her heels, she decides to disguise herself as an old woman and hide out as a resident in her grandmother’s nursing home.

Cardi is no stranger to the big and small screens. Her first role was in 2017 on an episode of BET’s Being Mary Jane starring Gabrielle Union. She then landed a small role as a stripper named Diamond opposite Jennifer Lopez in 2019’s Hustlers. At that time, Cardi joked that she didn’t get to show off her best dance moves.

“You know what? I was really mad because let me tell you something—when I did the movie, I just got my t–ties done and I got lipo, right? So, I was like, ‘This is my moment to shine, and I can’t shine because I can’t climb!’” she told Entertainment Tonight.

Written by Kay Oyegun (TV’s This Is Us), Assisted Living, on paper, sounds like a mix between Sister Act and Uncle Drew and is bound to center around Cardi doing some crazy things no one would ever want to see their grandma do. What happens if old-lady Cardi loses a game of bridge or if she can’t find her crochet needle? If some old man takes the last bread pudding at lunch, does that mean Cardi’s dropping a diss track?
