Goosebumps is back! A rebooted series inspired by author R.L. Stine’s bestselling books is set to premiere just in time for Halloween this year. One of the stars of the upcoming 10-part series is Ana Yi Puig, a first-generation Chinese-Puerto Rican actress based in New York City. Originally from Florida, she earned her degree in musical theater at Texas State University.
In a press release from Disney+, Goosebumps is described as “a world of mystery and suspense” that “follows a group of five high schoolers as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle – while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past.” Puig plays the role of Isabella, one of the five teens.
The original, live-action series ran for four seasons from 1995 to 1998 on Fox Kids and the Cartoon Network.
For Puig, her young career has included one-episode turns on TV series like Gossip Girl and Bull. She also lent her voice to a French, martial arts animated TV series called Jade Armor, which hasn’t hit any U.S. platforms yet.
When Puig received the news last year that she had been cast in Goosebumps, she was overjoyed. “Sometimes life works in magical ways and you get a phone call that changes your life,” she wrote on social media at the time. “I checked out every single Goosebumps book in my elementary school library. Little Ana is shaking. More to come, but for now … say cheese and die.”
The new Goosebumps will premiere on October 13, 2023, on Disney+ and Hulu. The first two episodes will also air on Freeform that same day as part of the network’s “31 Nights of Halloween” programming.
