Christina Milian is no stranger to rom-coms, or Netflix, and now she’s taking the leap into holiday cheer. Milian, who has previously starred in two romantic comedies for the streaming service, Resort to Love and Falling Inn Love, is now set to star in and executive produce the upcoming Netflix Christmas movie Meet Me Next Christmas.

Even though no release date for the movie has been announced, production on the film is set to begin this week. And it’s safe to assume that the streaming service is aiming to release the movie this upcoming 2023 holiday season.

Meet Me Next Christmas will see Milian play Layla, who is “in pursuit of a fairytale romance with the man of her dreams” and who “must race through New York City to get her hands on the hottest ticket in town: the sold-out Pentatonix Christmas Eve Concert.” The synopsis doesn’t give us much – but it does present the very intriguing possibility of Milian getting to showcase not just her acting abilities, but her musical talents in the movie.

The movie will also star Devale Ellis, Kofi Siriboe, and Kalen Allen, as well as Grammy-winning acapella group Pentatonix.

Dare we hope she can convince Pentatonix to let her sing a song with them? Maybe after some miscommunication, she ends up on stage, locks eyes with one of the singers and they start on a whirlwind adventure where she finds her self-worth, learns a lesson about life, and gets the man. So what if it ends up being a trope-filled rom-com. It’s what the holidays are all about.

Even if Meet Me Next Christmas doesn’t end up being exactly like that, we’re still very much here for Christina Milian to cement herself as one of the faces of the new era of rom-com. After all, this genre is long overdue for a real renaissance.
