Standup comedian Cristela Alonzo will return to Netflix for her second comedy special this summer. The special, Middle Classy, is a follow-up to 2017’s Lower Classy. Alonzo will also serve as an executive producer on the project.

“HEY EVERYONE! I’m back with my SECOND @NetflixIsAJoke special!” Alonzo tweeted. “#MiddleClassy! June 28th!”

Netflix is a Joke shared the Alonzo news Tuesday afternoon (May 3). “Cristela Alonzo is back for her second Netflix comedy special, Middle Classy,” read the tweet. “With more money and a smile big enough to show off her hard-earned new teeth, [Alonzo] is living the American Dream.”

If one thing is certain, Alonzo’s fans can’t wait for a new special. Some of them will probably watch it more than a few times.

Those same fans were ecstatic earlier this week when Alonzo tweeted a “half-joke” that she would be interested in taking over for late-night host James Corden when he exits The Late Late Show in 2023. She responded to Remezcla that she “would love to meet” CBS executives about the possibility and that she “meant it” when she tweeted that she would “take over” for Corden.

In 2014, Alonzo became the first Latina to create, star in, and produce her own sitcom, Cristela, on network TV. She also became the first Latina lead in a Pixar movie when she lent her voice to the yellow sports car character Cruz Ramirez in the 2017 animated film Cars 3. Now, it seems, Alonzo is really putting her foot on the gas.
