The Hollywood strike continues as representatives from the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) and Writers Guild of America (WGA) protest together in demand of systemic changes to the way the film and TV industry work.

Making a major impact on the picket line are the Latina talent standing together with their fellow entertainers and creators to show the Hollywood studios that they’re in this fight for the long haul.

Mayan Lopez (Lopez vs Lopez) posted a video on social media with her and her group, Latinas Acting Up, dancing up a storm to “Suavemente.”

“We will keep fighting for our rights and what we deserve,” Lopez wrote. “If there’s one thing Latinas in this business are … we are warriors!”

Some of the Latinas joining Lopez for a little merengue were Diana Maria Rivera (Dead to Me), Lisa Vidal (The Baker and the Beauty), Francia Raisa (How I Met Your Father), and Jessica Marie Garcia (On My Block).

Gina Torres (9-1-1: Lone Star) said that she was “striking so that generations to come don’t have to strike” and so actors like her will continue to be valued as artists. In addition, Dania Ramirez (Sweet Tooth) hopes her presence will continue to “inspire change,” so people can get back to work and take care of their families.

“At the end of the day, you can strike and be rebellious and be chaotic or you can come out with a purpose and hope and pray that people have heart, empathy and compassion,” she said

Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus) was also making her voice heard in protests against what she describes as a “broken system.”

“These corporations have been profiting off our talents and our work,” she said. “We’re working off an old model. There’s all kinds of s—t going on, but that’s one thing.”
