Actor Edgar Ramírez (Yes Day) has joined the ensemble cast of Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis and Jack Black for the film Borderlands, which is based on a sci-fi video game set in the year 2864. Director Antonio Campos (Christine) will direct six of the eight episodes for a limited-series drama on HBO Max based on the 2004 documentary The Staircase. The story follows a crime novelist named Michael Peterson who is accused of killing his wife Kathleen, who is found dead at the bottom of a staircase in 2001. [Deadline]
Marquis Freeman (TV’s When They See Us) joins the cast as a recurring guest star on the sixth season of Queen Sugar. He will play Isaiah, a college student who befriends actor Nicholas Ashe’s character Micha West. [The Futon Critic]
