Actress Eiza González (Baby Driver) will star alongside Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) in the upcoming WWII action spy movie The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The film will be directed by Guy Ritchie (The Gentlemen) and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (Top Gun: Maverick).

According to Deadline, the film, which is inspired by real events, follows a secret WWII combat organization headed by U.K. Prime Minister Winston Churchill and James Bond novelist Ian Fleming. Per Deadline, “the clandestine squad’s unconventional and entirely ‘ungentlemanly’ fighting techniques against the Nazis helped change the course of the war and in part gave birth to the modern Black Ops unit.”

González will play a “military sniper with extraordinary spy-craft abilities.” She was last seen in Michael Bay’s action movie Ambulance opposite Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Candyman). González’s next projects are two new TV series: Extrapolations for AppleTV+ and The Three-Body Problem for Netflix. Extrapolations is an anthology series about climate change. The Three-Body Problem is a sci-fi series about the first contact between humans and aliens.

Eiza González also has her Maria Félix film in the works, where she will portray the legendary Mexican actress. “This is one of the most exciting moments of my life,” she said after she was cast. “I’ve always wanted to tell a story that features women, namely Latina women. Maria was a pioneer of the feminist movement who helped lay the foundation for future female trailblazers. Maria is an inspiration to me and many others.”

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is scheduled to go into production in January 2023. No release date has been announced yet.
