The Latine talent in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will receive some special treatment when the Marvel Studios’ blockbuster becomes available on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD next month.
Collectors will also be able to purchase two limited-edition SteelBook designs exclusively at Best Buy. One cover design features the Wakanda warriors, while the other recreates the vibrant world of Talokan and includes characters like Namor (Tenoch Huerta), Namora (Mabel Cadena) and Attuma (Alex Livinalli). The custom artwork for the Mesoamerican-inspired design was created by Orlando Arocena.
“Being of Mexican heritage, it was beyond exciting when I was approached by Marvel Studios to create the Talokan SteelBook,” Arocena told Remezcla. “It’s a very proud moment for myself and even more so now since we officially have a Mesoamerican-inspired king in the MCU!”
The Talokan SteelBook features Arocena’s beautiful rendering of Namor dressed in his feathered serpent headdress alongside Namora, Attuma and other Talokan warriors. Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter (Black Panther) and her team created the traditional looks for the Mesoamerican characters.
“Marvel did a great deal of research on the many creative cultural attributes for the costumes and architecture,” Arocena said. “I wanted to reciprocate that energy to represent the culture the best I could.”
In a video to promote the SteelBook, Arocena adds, “It all comes from heritage.”
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be available on Digital on February 1, 2023, and 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on February 7, 2023.
