With Avengers: Endgame raking in the money it’s easy to forget that Marvel’s true pushes at diversity still remain relegated to its comics — this despite the cancellation of their series America — and television. Hulu’s The Runaways is still going strong after two seasons, itself filled with a diverse cast of kids, and it doesn’t look like it’ll be alone for long.

With Disney currently owning a whopping 60% of Hulu stock they’re transforming the streaming company into a platform for their Marvel series. Hulu’s recent upfront announcement detailed their plans for a Ghost Rider series, set to star Gabriel Luna. Luna will play Robbie Reyes, an antihero living on the border between Texas and Mexico. “Consumed by hellfire” Reyes is bound to a demon that comes out in the form of the Ghost Rider.

As Reyes struggles to control the Rider he simultaneously uses his alter ego to help those who need it. Luna is no stranger to the Marvel universe or the Ghost Rider character, having played the role during season four of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., though Hulu was quick to clarify that this interpretation will be completely different from what was established on ABC. The series is being spearheaded by Ingrid Escajeda, producer of Justified.

Fans have been clamoring for a Ghost Rider series for years, specifically with the Latinx character of Robbie Reyes. Previous incarnations of the character, specifically the two Nicolas Cage-starring movies, haven’t aged particularly well. Though Marvel’s film output remains almost completely Latino free it’s great that the television arm is at least doing something. It’s unclear how dark this will go, especially compared to Marvel’s Punisher series on Netflix, but either way it’ll be fantastic seeing the Rider dispense justice.

Ghost Rider is set to premiere sometime in 2020.
