It looks like fans of Oscar-nominated filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense) will be in for another disturbing tale with his upcoming thriller Old. The film stars Gael García Bernal (TV’s Mozart in the Jungle) as the father of a family who goes on vacation only to discover the beach that they are relaxing on is somehow causing them to age rapidly.

The full trailer for the film begins with Bernal’s character joking with his kids that a brochure he is reading from the resort they are staying at doesn’t allow kids on the beach. “We never leave each other,” one of his kids says. “Nothing separates us.”

The family make their way to a beautiful and secluded part of the island where they hope to spend some quality time together. They are not alone, however. A few other people have found the isolated area and also decide to set up camp. As the kids wander around the beach, they come across a bunch of objects buried in the sand that look like they’ve been abandoned. The youngest child screams out when he sees that a dead body has floated up to him in the water from behind.

Soon, all the inhabitants of the beach see that the deceased woman, who has just recently died, is decomposing quicker than she should. The children’s parents then realize the quick aging of the dead woman’s body is not only happening to her. Her young son and daughter are now in their 20s. Everyone on the beach starts to age, too. “Whatever is happening to us is happening very fast,” Bernal’s character says.

The group of people decide that the only way they’ll survive is if they get off the beach. But it might be too late. “We’re here for a reason,” Bernal says.

Old premieres at theaters July 23.
