UPDATE: Looks like we got fooled by El Universal’s Dia de los Inocentes prank article. HBO has not tweeted about Game of Thrones filming at the Castillo de Chapultepec, and we regret erroneously reporting this news.

In 2019, Game of Thrones will come to an end. As we await the eighth and final season and speculate about who will be there until the very end, there’s now reports that the production will head to Mexico City.

According to El Universal, the  HBO show is filming an alternative ending for the show in Castillo de Chapultepec, and if you’ve seen the show, you’ll know this splendorous location fits the bill. Plus, if it’s where Daenerys Targaryen ends up, her dragons will have plenty of space to roam around.

The outlet reports that the show’s Twitter account confirmed the news with a tweet that read “Mexico City, here we go!!! Winter is coming to you.” However, the message appears to have been deleted.

But as the outlet reports, trucks bearing the HBO logo have begun unloading equipment in the area, and parts of the Bosque de Chapultepec have been blocked off for the crew. The scenes are expected to be filmed between this week and the next.

Mexicans are very excited about the news, and some have even begun camping out at the Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez. But tbh, that’s not too surprising that people are hyped. In 2016, ahead of the sixth season finale, Mexican Twitter took it upon themselves to imagine the show set in their country. And the results were hilarious and left us wanting more.
