Producer Gloria Calderón Kellett’s stock is rising fast. The co-creator of the TV series One Day at a Time is setting up four projects with Amazon Studios through her production company, GloNation Studios.
The first series, With Love, a one-hour romantic dramedy that she wrote, is scheduled to debut sometime during the 2021 holiday season. The series follows Lily and Jorge Diaz, a pair of siblings who are looking for love.
“I started writing as a way to create characters and stories that represented myself and the community I love,” Calderón Kellett told Deadline. “After such a heavy year, there was nothing I wanted more than to see a happy, warm, loving family that looked like mine, celebrating trauma-free and falling in love. So, to be bringing that family to life as my first project with Amazon Studios feels especially personal and is incredibly exciting. I cannot wait to share With Love this holiday season!”
Marc Resteghini, U.S. and Global Head of Development for Amazon Studios, said Calderón Kellett’s first project with the streaming platform is full of “heart and soul” that features a vibrant family. “We’re so proud of what’s to come of this series and can’t wait for the world to fall in love with it,” he said.
Along with With Love, Calderón Kellett has other projects in development for Amazon Studios. Verona, a Shakespeare-themed drama, follows Nico, Delilah, and Inez Del Castillo, a trio of sisters, maneuvering their lives through high school; Glowing Up, an adult animated musical series that tells the story of Evan Horowitz, a gay Latino/Jew matchmaker and aspiring makeup artist; and Dating the Lopez Ladies, an animated comedy series that follows a plus-sized comic strip artist named Ilana Lopez.
