NBC’s upcoming sitcom Lopez vs Lopez continues to stack up all-star talent on its roster. On Wednesday (October 19), showrunner Gloria Calderón Kellett (One Day at a Time) revealed that she will be directing an episode of the show for its debut season.

“Never gets old!” Calderón Kellett wrote on Instagram along with a photo of the script she will direct. “Squealing!! This week I’m directing legends [George Lopez] & [Mayan Lopez] on the incredible new show from genius [Debby Wolfe]. Lopez V Lopez coming soon! Let’s go!”

Described as “a working-class family comedy about dysfunction, reconnection, and all the pain and joy in between,” Lopez vs Lopez features the popular comedian going head-to-head with his real-life daughter, Mayan Lopez, when he moves into her house.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Lopez vs Lopez would be adding Oscar winner Rita Moreno (West Side Story) and Cheech Marin (Up in Smoke) to its cast for one episode. Also joining the group is the original cast from Lopez’s first eponymous sitcom George Lopez, including Constance Marie, Belita Moreno, Valente Rodriguez, and Luis Garcia.

Moreno will play Dolores, George Lopez’s dead abuela, whose spirit returns to give some grandmotherly advice. Marin will play Carlos, a curandero who will try to cleanse the Lopez household of any supernatural entities.

Earlier this month, Gloria Calderón Kellett was one of two Latinas named to The Hollywood Reporter’s 2022 list of the “50 Most Powerful TV Showrunners.” During her interview with THR, she said that her biggest concern in the TV industry is that studios are “erasing brown stories.”

Lopez vs Lopez premieres November 4, 2022, on NBC at 8 p.m. EST.
