Guillermo del Toro teamed up with Patrón to bring you the spookiest tequila bottle you’ve ever seen. For del Toro’s first product endorsement, the famed liquor brand is not a surprise. As he recounts in the promo video for his boozy collab, “I was born in Jalisco, just like Patrón.”

Working with illustrator Guy Davis, he helped design a bottle that incorporates elements of Mexican culture and Día de Muertos imagery. The dark amber glass bottle has two chambers: a larger one that holds the aged, extra añejo tequila, and a small calavera on top which contains a sweet citrus liqueur. The two spirits are meant to be enjoyed together.

The bottle is housed inside a large black box embossed with a silver calavera on the front, and the sides and back reveal sketches of calacas with the words “Tiempo, Vida y Madurez.” The ornate packaging opens up into a colorful altar, complete with two votive candles to set up your ofrenda for loved ones who’ve passed on.

On his inspiration for the design, del Toro told The Hollywood Reporter, “We said, ‘Let’s do a bottle that changes the way you view tequila, that commemorates and elevates and enshrines, literally, the liquid as something that’s sacred and essential to Mexican culture.”

Take a look at the dark and moody promo for the otherworldly libation known as Patrón x Guillermo del Toro.

The limited edition tequila set is available for pre-order on ReserveBar for $475 with shipping expected on September 1, 2017.
