Gabriel Iglesias (a.k.a Fluffy) is packing in the laughs this summer. The comedian has announced a third stand-up special titled The Comedy Event, and it is indeed an event. The comedian will tape the special in San Antonio, Texas. The show will cap off a month-long run over June and July at the Tobin Center for Performing Arts.

Iglesias told Variety, “This is the longest time I’ve been away from my fans in decades. I’m extremely grateful to be able to come out of forced retirement. Since I realized how much I miss and need all my fans around the world. I’m waxed and vaxed, ready to return to the stage.” And return to the stage he will. The comedian is touring all over the world starting this summer. Iglesias is hitting Vegas, Radio City Music Hall, and ending in Germany; all total, there are almost 90 shows through summer 2023.

It’s no surprise that Iglesias’s special would end up on Netflix. The comedian has a long standing relationship with the streaming service. His sitcom Mr. Iglesias calls Netflix home. The show, currently in its third season, stars and is executive produced by Iglesias.

In addition to the sitcom and the tour, Iglesias is also lending his voice to the legendary character of Speedy Gonzalez for the upcoming Space Jam: A New Legacy movie. That film is due out July 16 on HBO Max and in theaters.

Iglesias has been performing stand-up comedy for over 20 years. He has two comedy specials under his belt, Gabriel Iglesias: I’m Sorry For What I Said When I was Hungry and Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias: One Show Fits All.
