Mexican actor and comedian, Juan Verduzco, best known for his famous acting role as “Don Camerino” in La Familia P. Luche, passed away on March 4. There are no further details about the cause of his death. He was 78.
Verduzco’s death was confirmed by the Asociación Nacional de Actores [National Actors Association] yesterday afternoon. The association wrote in Spanish: “The National Actors Association deeply mourns the death of our Compañero Juan Verduzco, a member of our union. Our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. May he rest in peace.”
La Familia P. Luche’s Eugenio Derbez also gave his condolences on social media. He wrote in Spanish: “What a great pride to coincide with Juan on stage. Media Ciudad Peluche will be without ‘Don Camerino’ today. RIP 🙏🏻.”
Verduzco was born on January 28, 1946, in Mexico City. He made his acting debut in 1974 in the telenovela Mundo de juguete. Later, he acted in films and other television shows like El pequeño Robin Hood (1975), Gotita de gente (1978-1979), and Rosa Salvaje (1987-1988) with the emblematic Mexican actress Verónica Castro. He debuted as a comedian in 1987 in the television series Dr. Cándido Pérez. As a comedian, he also participated in the comedy television show Humor es… los comediantes (2000-2001).
During his career, he was also part of other telenovelas like Mi segunda madre (1989), and Pobre niña rica (1995) alongside Mexican superstar Paulina Rubio, however, it’s La Familia P. Luche’s role as Don Camerino that he is most recognized for today. He played this role with known comedians and actors Eugenio Derbez and Consuelo Duval between 2002 and 2011. The hit show – which featured a dysfunctional family under a comedic lens – is still one of the most beloved and memorable shows to date.
Besides La Familia P. Luche, Verduzco also participated in television series like Adictos (2012), Como dice el dicho (2013), Una familia de diez (2020), and most recently, Esta historia me suena (2022).
